If you’re looking for somewhere new and unique to go for pizza visit Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza.

Located at 42970 Grand River in Novi, Tony Sacco’s pizzas are made in custom-built 1,000-degree coal burning ovens giving it an authentic thin crust and New York style pizza taste. It boasts that its sauce is made from scratch with Italian plum tomatoes and they are so picky about taste that they filter all the water they use in their dough and the beverages they serve.

The Novi location opened just a few months ago and has a lively energy, a full bar and televisions dispersed throughout the dining room. It gives it a sort of sporty feel.

Not only is the pizza delicious, but they also offer several salads which come served in a large bamboo bowl. It is placed on an elevated serving stand accompanied by a couple of pieces of cheese dusted bread triangles, or crostini, that appear to be made from the same recipe as the pizza dough.

On my last visit, I ordered the caesar salad which had a tart and creamy dressing and was sprinkled with freshly grated parmesan cheese. I prefer to order my pizza extra crispy, which gives the crust some added interest and more authenticity.

Tony Sacco’s offers a few appetizers including sausage and peppers for $7 and roasted garlic hummus for $6. A small “traditional” pizza starts at $10.50 with a wide variety of items available from anchovies to roasted peppers to pineapple.

Hours:
